History of the Award

Ad 2 Phoenix continues a 47 – year long tradition of honoring recipients with the annual Ad Person of the Year award, a prestigious and highly – recognized award for advertising in the Phoenix area. In 1974, the award was renamed the J. Terry Groener Ad Person of the Year award in recognition of the industry hero that left us far too soon.  Ad 2 Phoenix adopted his name alongside the award in honor of his memory and contributions to the community.

Each year, the organization receives a flood of nominations from those wanting to recognize an industry leader who is dedicated to making a positive impact throughout our local community.  Winners are selected by these criteria:

1. A contributor to the betterment of the advertising industry
2. An active participant in community service, and
3. Presently active in advertising/marketing/communications

The person selected to receive this award is announced each year at the Annual ADDY Awards Gala, hosted by AAF-Metro Phoenix.
