Barbara LehmanKaren Kallet named 2004 J. Terry Groener Ad Person of the Year

Ad 2 Phoenix is proud to announce the winner of the J. Terry Groener Advertising Person of the Year is Karen Kallet. The J. Terry Groener Ad Person of the Year Award is the most prestigious and the highest recognized award for advertising in the state. Announced at this year's Addy Awards presentation on March 12th, 2004—The winner must be: A contributor to the betterment of the advertising industry. An active participant in community service and presently active in advertising, marketing or communications. For more than 40 years Ad 2 Phoenix, a chapter of the American Advertising Federation has annually recognized a leader in the advertising industry for their outstanding commitment and contributions.

Karen Kallet has been recognized for giving back to the advertising community and as a recognized expert and a "go to" person in the Phoenix advertising field. She is President of Kallet Communications, Inc., which has three divisions including a mentoring and career mentoring service for individuals, small business and large companies in the advertising field called PeerMentor®. A publishing division—Twenty12 Publishing® and Kallet Strategic Innovations that consults on advertising, marketing, direct marketing, lead generation, business strategies, growth and start up issues for corporations &, advertising agencies.

In addition, she is co-founder and co-owner of Innofresh Products. Inc. a consumer package goods manufacturer of the brands Fridge-It, Visor Fresh Air Fresheners and SL Foreman, Earth Fresh Odor Absorbers. The products are sold across the US and overseas in stores such as Wal Mart, Linens N Things, Organized Living, Camping World, Sur La Table and has their products featured in many catalogs.

Karen's has held most of the major advertising client jobs here in Phoenix during her 25 years in the advertising field. This includes, Corporate Director of Advertising for Del Webb, Senior Director of Advertising and Sales Promotion for America West Airlines. Account Manager on the Circle K business for Western International Media, Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Planning for SkyMall, Direct Marketing and Creative Services Manager for Valley National Bank.

She is a very active member of the Phoenix Ad Club and is currently PR chair. She is past president of both The Phoenix Ad Club and The Arizona Direct Marketing Association and is the only person to have held both Presidencies. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Book Publishers Association and the Better Business Bureau. She has pioneered job share at the executive level and is an award-winning author. She continually innovates for the Phoenix Ad Club by founding the Phoenix Ad Club job bank in 1991, the clubs web site in 1996, and the clubs electronic Ad Lib in 2002.

Since 1996, Karen gives back to the advertising community each month by founding, facilitating and funding the monthly In-Transition Round Table group for advertising, marketing and communications professionals who are in job transition. The group has had over 2000 participants who have used the support group and Karen's career mentoring expertise, while they are in job search or thinking about leaving their current employer. She continually works to help those in employment and career transition and to help keep open and free access to information on all to jobs in the industry. Karen continues to give back to the advertising community through her expertise and caring to raise the standards of advertising in Phoenix.
